Angela trained at London Contemporary Dance School from 1992 to1995 graduating with 1st class BA Honours Degree. After graduating she joined Richard Alston Dance Company until 1999, at which point she was invited to dance with Rambert Dance Company under the Directorship of Christopher Bruce CBE and later with Mark Baldwin OBE.
During her time at Rambert Dance Company Angela danced and created many leading roles for Internationally celebrated Choreographers including Christopher Bruce, Mark Baldwin, Merce Cunningham, Wayne McGregor, Jiri Kylian, Mats Ek’s, Javier De Frutos and Michael Clark to name a few.
In 2007 Angela was nominated for a TMA award for Achievement in Dance for her outstanding performance in Merce Cunningham’s Pond Way. The same year she was named 25th most influential Scot in Scottish List’s ‘Top 100 most influential Scots’. Angela choreographed three works for Rambert’s New Choreographer Platform with former dancer Martin Joyce, Divine Influence (2005), See Me (2007), (both entered the Rambert repertoire), and Brevity (2009). Angela has also choreographed for BBC, ITV and in 2011 she choreographed the award-nominated ‘Wella ITVA Awards’, New York, for Jack Morton Worldwide. In 2011 Angela was nominated for the Critics’ Circle National Dance Award for Outstanding Female Performance (Modern). In 2009 under the Directorship of Mark Baldwin, Angela took on the role as Rehearsal Director for Rambert in 2013 until leaving in March 2019.
Over her career Angela has been teaching contemporary technique and repertoire classes to professional companies nationally and internationally.
Angela is extremely excited and honoured to be invited to work with Scottish Dance Theatre as Rehearsal Director until mid-September.
