Tue 23 April
6.30pm-8pm with Rebecca Hunt
SDT studio at Dundee Rep

This Technique class will draw on Rebecca’s expertise in Cunningham Technique alongside her creative use of dynamics, musicality and focus. Rebecca encourages the concept that even the most basic of technique exercises can be a performance worth watching.

Although technique will be at the heart of this class, Rebecca encourages individuality and fun. Throughout her career in Dance, Rebecca has enjoyed developing her skills in a variety of dance techniques and enjoys including them in the more traditional technique exercises.

The class will develop towards learning a phrase where the dancers will be given the chance to develop and make their own.

Tue 30 April
6.30pm - 8pm with Artistic Director, Joan Clevillé
SDT studio at Dundee Rep

Joan’s contemporary technique class is release-based and combines elements from his own choreographic practice and his experience as a dancer in repertory companies across Europe (including Scottish Dance Theatre).

The class starts with some breath and improvisation work building availability in the body and kinaesthetic awareness. We then move into a series of set exercises encouraging efficiency in the movement and organic flow. In the last part, we will work on longer, more dynamic phrases to finish with some jump sequences across the space.

Tue 7 May
6.30pm - 8pm with Giulia Montalbano
SDT studio at Dundee Rep

Giulia teaches ballet, floor-barre and contemporary dance and has extensive teaching experience. She has performed with many companies including Scottish Dance Theatre, Rambert Dance Company (Dane Hurst’s Project) and Chordelia Dance Company. She is Dance Lecturer for the Junior Conservatoire at RCS in Glasgow. She is the Director and Co-founder of Fuora Dance Project.

Giulia's class will include a gentle warm up, combined with somatic exercises and a mash-up of contemporary techniques. The fundamental goal is to let your body feel relaxed, engaged and strong, leading to experiencing your body differently, away from habits and more fully aware of how we interact with people within the space.
