This week marked the closing class of Contemporary Dance Technique, led by our fantastic Creative Learning team. But don’t worry, we’re already working on our next season of classes, which begin on 15 January 2019. Here’s a wee look at a few of the dancers who’ll be teaching next term, alongside some of the works they’ve created and appeared in.
Charlotte Mclean (22 Jan)
Charlotte (pictured) is no stranger to the Creative Learning team, having been a member of the SDT Young Company prior to embarking on full time dance studies at The Space. She trained at The Scottish School of Contemporary Dance and the London Contemporary Dance School, and has performed across the world in works by Joan Clevillé and Eva Recacha amongst others. She recently performed in Pink Mama Theatre’s Jungle, playing Vicky, a chav feminist, and is currently working with the company again to premiere FASHION in January 2019, at Damfzentrale, Bern.
John Kendall (12 Feb)
Currently a collaborator at Joan Clevillé Dance and balletLORENT, John’s career has taken him from the Scottish School of Contemporary Dance and the London Contemporary Dance School to working with Anothony Lo-Guidice, Rob Heaslip and Nathan Johnstone, alongside others. He’s fresh from performing in balletLORENT’s After Dark at Northern Stage, celebrating the 25th dance-iversary of the company, taking elements of la nuit intime and The Night Ball.
Eve Ganneau (26 Feb & 5 Mar)
Having recently performed in Scottish Ensemble and Andersson Dance’s Goldberg Variations – ternary patterns for insomnia, Eve is no stranger to us either, having previously danced with SDT’s repertory company. She’s also danced in work from Karole Armitage, Damien Jalet and Jo Strømgren and currently collaborates at Joan Clevillé Dance. She is also developing her own choreographic practice and is training in Feldenkrais in Milan under Mara Della Pergola.
Joan Clevillé (12 Mar)
Based in Dundee, and Artistic Director at Joan Clevillé Dance, Joan has had a wealth of international experience and exposure. Having worked with us at SDT, the Ballet of the Graz Opera (Austria and the Ballet Carmen Roche (Madrid) to name a few of his dancing, teaching and director credits, he has also been Associate Artist of the Scottish School of Contemporary Dance and was Tramway’s Associate Artist in 2017. The company have just toured their humourous Plan B For Utopia to Tanzfestival Winterthur, Switzerland.
We’ll be announcing more dancers shortly, including a class led by SDT Apprentice Dancer Molly Danter!
